How To: Repair Controllers with WORN OUT Analog Grips (Xbox 360 & PS3)

This method could definitely save you some TIME and CASH - especially if you're considering to buy new Analog Sticks/Opening your controller to replace your analog sticks/Having to go somewhere to have them repaired.. Plus it makes your Xbox 360/Playstation 3 analog grips feel so much more comfortable!:bigmouth:

I. Why our analog rubber grips wear off

Very few gaming accessories, especially controllers, last for a LONG time for the average gamer.

Take "Frank" (my PS2 Controller) for instance:

Time has not been very kind to good 'ol Frank.. so please bear with the dust.

Here's Frank compared to a newer Playstation 3 Controller

Frank's analog rubber grips have not aged well. They have decayed after years of gaming.. even Ubisoft's sands of time could not give Frank the grips that he once had. :( When I finally got a PS3, I kept Frank in a storage drawer. When I brought him out, I noticed that the analog rubber grips have completely come off already. So just like most other equipment, it's pretty much a "use it or lose it" sort of thing.

II. A Cure

Good news though (and here's the sales pitch part..) you can easily fix your completely worn out analog sticks with...

GRIP-IT!!!

Installation Procedure:

1. Here's the Grip-It that I'm about to attach to the worn out analog stick.

Xbox 360:

2. Turn the Grip-It inside-out and place on top of the analog stick.

Xbox 360:

3. Flip the Grip-It back outside-in (original form) on top of the analog stick.

Ensure it's centered with a snug fit on your controller's analog stick.

Xbox 360:

4. Presto change-o.. All done, amigo. :agree:

Xbox 360:

PS: This is how the Grip-Its are installed whether the analog stick rubber grips are intact or not! If you find that your controller analog stick's top portion is too thin, you can also use ELECTRIC TAPE to "fatten" it enough for the Grip-It to be a snug-fit. The best part is, this works with both original Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 Controllers.

III. Benefits

I've always used Grip-Its since I've heard of 'em. I actually started using them just for the added grip they provide. My fingers and palms get sweaty while playing sometimes, so these help me with traction on my analog sticks. The extra grip can also be beneficial for all sorts of games:

1. 1st/3rd Person Shooters - Added grip for twitchy thumbs when you check those corners and go sniping :2thumbs:

2. 3rd person Action Games - Extra grip on the left analog stick prevents you from losing control over your character movement
3. Racing Games - Extra grip on the left analog stick helps you keep your fingers tacked on to the left analog stick for tight turns and drifts!!! :win:
4. Any other game because they're simply great accessories. :agree:

But they also protect my controller's analog sticks from my raging thumb, which I punish my controller's analog grips with when I encounter things like:

1. Cheap skeleton kills/boss fights/and anything else related to dying in Dark Souls (... meh, it's a love-hate thing)

2. Experiencing a cheap death due to LAG in COD.. (ie: "how can that dude knife me when I just emptied a 30-round clip into that stabbing-sack of meat" *pinches thumbnails into controller analog stick out of rage*)

Anyhow, that's pretty much it!

Quick and Spoiler-Free Review - Uncharted 3

The "Uncharted" franchise has produced some of the smoothest playing third-person shooter/adventure games out there. Its tight control scheme and fast-paced gameplay allows you to become the slickest and most agile fortune hunter - a ninja-like Indiana Jones! Uncharted 3 has been fascinating in every feature I have tried so far, and from just a few hours of gameplay, I can already tell that you'll be getting your money's worth from playing this game.

Features:

Single Player:

To keep this spoiler free, I'll leave out the other details of single player for now and just get to the technical aspects of this game that makes it so damn fun. First off, the hand-to-hand combat in single player shines out all the way through. While it's certainly not a vast improvement over Uncharted 2's melee combat, the game has definitely built-in some added features on top of the already fast-paced combat system of its predecessors. [Square = Strike, Triangle = Counter, Circle = Grab (yup - Drake can now do throws!)] Meanwhile, its other smooth aspects are still  intact - The cover system still allows you to flow from cover to cover, while the slick aiming system [hold L1/L2 to aim] allows you to pop out of cover/peak around corners/pull up from a ledge grab to land some precision shots. When you're not kicking ass, there are linear platforming segments (which is understandable because this game is meant to be played slick like a parkour game even as you 'unchart' the various levels of single player mode) and puzzle solving portions (remember, even if you move like a ninja - you're still a treasure hunter in this game). There are also a whole bunch of awesome quick-time events (i.e. press the correct button/s to progress) that unfold in Uncharted 3's single player mode to keep the game thrilling all throughout the single player campaign.

Multiplayer:

Multiplayer allows you and all your agile pals to play cooperatively (against waves of AI opponents) or competitively (against other agile treasure hunters). This mode allows you to jump roof-to-roof and ledge-to-ledge while shooting enemies with your team mates. Uncharted 3's multiplayer aesthetics have recieved a giant boost, along with its customization options and game modes. The game's level of customization has been improved - allowing you to create your very own custom hero/villain. Matchmaking even features a highlight reel that automatically shows off the best plays of the week/month as you wait to join a game..! These clips show you the possibilities open to you when playing multiplayer mode - perhaps even helping you learn a trick or two in playing competitively. I can still feel Uncharted 2's multiplayer engine in Uncharted 3, but with the addition of a sprint ability, new guns, and new perks. Best of all, among its new features is giving players the chance to play the game on split-screen cooperatively..! Big ups to Naughty Dog for this sick new feature.

Overall:
I would easily recommend this game to anyone who owns a Playstation 3. It's definitely worth it, and you won't regret your purchase. I think it's safe to say that any third-person shooter fan would dig this game.
BUY IT!!!
